WATERSIDER HURT

FALL INTO HARBOUR ACCIDENT ON PORT ALMA While helping to unload the Port Alma at Prince’s Wharf about 8.15 this morning, Mr. A. W. Young, a wharf labourer, of 35 Paice Avenue, Dominion Road, fell from the ship’s deck on to the edge of the wharf and then into the harbour. He was rescued and taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance. With another labourer and one of the ship’s officers, Mr. Young was unshipping one of the starboard rails. It suddenly swung clear of its socket and knocked him over the side. He fell on to the stringer at the edge of the wharf and from there into the sea. He was quickly rescued and the St. John Ambulance took him to the hospital. Ho is suffering from internal and facial injuries, but his condition is not serious.
