Holmes, the millionaire stock owner, died last night. He was the owner of that speedy sprinter, Sion, runner-up in both the A.J.C. Epsom and Doncaster Handicaps last season.

AUSTRALIAN DISQUALIFICATIONS (United P.A. — By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 12.45 p.m. NEWCASTLE, Today. The gelding Chrysotte has been disqualified for 3 2 months, together with the jockey, T. Cartwright, and its owner-trainer, D. McKinnon, following an inquiry into the running in the Maitland Mile. At Perth Tom Chandler, one of ■Western Australia’s leading jockeys, was disqualified for three years for alleged improper practices.
