GRAMMAR JUBILEE

CELEBRATIONS NEXT WEEK OLD BOYS’ FESTIVITIES A festival week is planned by the Auckland Grammar School Old Boys’ Association next week to celebrate the diamond jubilee of an institution which has made its mark as one of the great schools of the Empire. One of the outstanding functions is the Diamond Jubilee Ball, to take place in the Scots’ Hall on the evening of Friday, August 9. On the Saturday afternoon, at 2 p.m., old boys in their hundreds will visit the school at Mount Eden and will assemble under banners in order of seniority. A gathering will then take place in the school hall, where speeches will be made by old boys and the Mayor. This concluded, a sports programme has been arranged to take place. The celebrations will conclude with a reunion smoke concert in the Masonic Hall, Princes Street, on the Saturday evening immediately after an extraordinary general meeting of the association.
