LANCASHIRE CRISIS
COTTON INDUSTRY DEADLOCK
COMMITTEE OF EXPERTS

The Prime Minister has appointed the following a sub-committee of the Committee of Civil Research to inquire into the cotton industry: Mr. W. Graham, President of the Board of Trade (chairman), the Rt. Hon. A. V. Alexander, First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Alan Anderson, Mr. Joseph Jones and Sir William McLintock. The terms of reference will be “to consider and report upon the present condition and prospects of the cotton industry and to make recommendations as to any action which may appear desirable and practicable in order to improve the position of this industry in the markets of the world.” Mr. Jones is secretary to the Yorkshire Millowners’ Association. Mr. Mclintock is senior partner of Thomson, McLintock and Company, chartered accountants, and has been a member of the Royal Commission on Income Tax, National Debt and Taxation Committee, and the Unemployment Insurance Committee.
