TO KEEP LEMONS FRESH

Here are some simple ways of keeping lemons fresh for a long time. Place them in a tightly-sealed jar or in a basin of water, and change the water frequently. These do very well for the lemons needed fairly frequently, but for actual storing the following method is considered more valuable. Dry some fine sand in the oven in a clean dish or box. When it is cold, pack in a layer of lemons with the stalk end down and not touching each other. Cover two inches deep with more dry sand and keep in a cool place.
