Flags and House Pennants Make Effective Decoration

GAY SCENE AT SCOTS HALL Scots Hall presented a gay appearance last evening when the Auckland branch of the Shipping Officers’ Guild of New 2.'ealand held its seventh ‘annual ball. Vividly-coloured flags of the various shipping companies, greenery and bunches of bright balloons decorated the hall, and an archway hung with fairy lights framed the stage. Kendall’s Collegians dispensed a splendid programme of the newest dance tunes and a very merry evening was spent by the large crowd of dancers. Committee members present were:— Miss T. Garrard, who chose cyclamen taffeta with flowers appliqued to the bouffant skirt. Miss A. French, wearing gold lace over gold crepe de chine, and rose shawl. Miss E. Bradley, in almond green taffeta with three rows of frills defining the petalled hemline. Miss M. Thom, who had on cherry chenille with uneven length skirt of georgette. Miss B. Bowen, in a black georgette uneven length frock. Miss %. Graham, who wore lido blue and silver lame with blue georgette. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Mrs. E. IJ. Wing wore black gold lace over black satin.
