INCREASE IN FARES

ORAXEI ROAD BUSES Permission to make a small increase in the price of concession cards on his feeder bus service has been granted to Mr. C. M. Strand by the Transport Board. Mr. Strand is proprietor of the service operating be tween the Remuera Post Office and Benson Road, via Orakei Road. The present rate of 12 rides foils 6d will be increased to 12 for Is 9d. The decision was made after Mr. Strand had submitted his accounts and balance sheet to the secretary of the board, showing that he was running at a loss on the basis of the then existing fares. The new fares, which represent an increase of 121 per cent., will remain in force for six months, when Mr. Strand has offered again to submit his accounts for infection.
