Strike Terrorism in Sydney VOLUNTEERS FIRE SHOTS (Australian, and N.Z. Press Association)
Received 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. PILLOWING an attack by members of a “basher” gang at Ultimo, two volunteer timber workers drew their revolvers and fired three shots, and held their assailants off until the arrival of the police, upon whose approach the strikers ran away.
The "Sydney Morning Herald” published a statement by a timber worker, whose name it withheld, in which he declares that the majority of the strikers are on strike against their will, that the union meetings are dominated by a Communist coterie whose aim is
)- | the destruction of legitimate unionism , j and the creation of misery. ’ He said no courage was needed to e go on strike. The real test was the > preparedness of a man to act accord1, ing to his convictions, and refuse to be j terrorised by Trades Hall conspirators, who received their orders from a fors eign country.
