WAIHOU AND WAITOA MEETINGS In view of the recent offer of the Highways Board to grant a subsidy of £2 for £ 1, for the purpose of bituminising portion of the Te Aroha-Morrins-ville highway, the Piako County Council decided to place the matter before tho ratepayers in the districts concerned. Waihou and Waitoa. The meeting at Waihou, conducted by Cr. Plennedy, was fairly well attended, but a motion was passed, after the scheme had been outlined, to the effect that the question be deferred foi 12 months for consideration. At Waitoa yesterday a large meeting was conducted by Cr. Walters, and after nearly two hours’ discussion, in which the advisability of concrete roofling was touched on, a motion was passed to the effect that for sealing the three and a-half miles in question a loan should be raised. , The meeting noted approval of the Highways Board scheme. Cr. Walters undertook that before proceeding with the scheme he would place before the Piako County Council a proposal that all highways in the county be declared county roads.
