KAIAPOI LEAVES HOBART.—Cabled news has been received by the Union Company that the Kaiapoi, from Melbourne, left Hobart at 4 p.m. on Friday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due at Bluff on Wednesday.
MAUI POMARE IN PORT.—The Government motor-ship Maui Pomare arrived at Auckland shortly after noon today from Niue Island and Apia, Samoa, via Southern ports, and berthed at the King’s Wharf. Spedding, Ltd., hope to dispafeh the vessel at ten o’clock this evening for Norfolk Island.
CRUISER TOURVILLE ARRIVES.—At about 9 o’clock this morning the Frejieh cruiser Tourville arrived in the stream at Auckland from the New Hebrides. At 9.30 a.m. she berthed at the Central AVharf in the same position as was recently occupied by the German cruiser Emden. The Tourville is to be dispatched for AVellington in continuation of her world tour on August 7. WAIPAHI’S MOVEMENTS. The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Island fruit steamer Waipahi is due at AVellington at one o’clock this afternoon from Portland, and leaves again tomorrow evening for Auckland, where she is due on Friday. She is expected to sail from this port on Saturday for Rarotonga, Aitutaki,, Atiu, Mauke, and Mangaia. NOBEL COMPANY’S VESSELS.—Mr. C. E. Campbell advises the following movements of the Nobel Explosive Company’s vessels:—
The Piri is expected to arrive late this evening from Melbourne, via Southern ports. Her last call was made at Nelson. After she has discharged the remainder of her explosive cargo the Piri is to undergo her annual overhaul and survey here. She will unload at the Tamaki powder anchorage. The Huia, which has been unloading a cargo of Australian hardwoods at Central Wharf for some days past, left this morning for the Tamaki powder anchorage to load explosives for Napier, Greymouth, Westport and Dunedin. Her departure for those ports is uncertain, as she has to await the arrival of the Piri for a transhipment of explosives.
MOTOR-TANKER SVOIDER. The Norwegian motor-tanker Svoidei* has been chartered to load bulk oil at Californian ports for New Zealand and Australia. TARANAKI AT LONDON.—Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that the Taranaki arrived at London on Friday morning - from Auckland. The vessel left Auckland on June 23. GOLDEN COAST SAILS FRIDAY.— Now discharging Pacific Coast cargo at the King’s Wharf, under the agency of Henderson and Macfarlane, the O. and O. Line’s steamer Golden Coast is expected to leave Auckland on Friday for Wellington, Timaru, and Dunedin, to complete discharge. KENT REPLACES CAMBRIDGE.—The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Kent will replace the Cambridge on the loading berths at "West Coast ports of Great Britain. She is scheduled to leave Liverpool on October 12 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. SURREY FOR HOME.—Efforts are being made to dispatch the Federal steamer Surrey from Wellington tomorrow evening for London, via Panama. The vessel was due at Wellington this morning from Picton to complete her loading, under the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. ROUND-THE-WORLD RECORD.—The Greystoke Castle, owned by the Lancashire Shipping Company, Liverpool, has recently made a new round-the-world record in 143 days. The motor-ship called at 23 ports, and covered a distance of 29,000 miles. The total running time was 87 days 5 hours, and the average speed 131 knots. H.M.S. DIOMEDE ARRIVES.—At 6.40 o’clock this morning H.M.S. Diomede arrived in port from Hobart, being the first vessel of the New Zealand Division of the ltoyal Navy to return to Auckland from the Australian manoeuvres. She experienced a heavy following sea on the way over, but otherwise enjoyed a good trip. The vessel is now berthed at the Sheerlegs Wharf.
PORT GISBORNE TO LOAD. —Now loading at Port Chalmers, the C. and D. Line’s motor-ship Port Gisborne later proceeds to Bluff, thence Lyttelton, New Plymouth, Wanganui, Wellington, Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland. She is due here on August 23 and is to sail finally the following day for New York, Boston, and London, via Panama. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company will act as the local agents. TAINUI AT COLON.—Reported to have reached Colon last Saturday, the Shaw Savill, and Albion liner Tainui is en route from London and Southampton with passengers, mail, and cargo for New Zealand. The vessel is due at Wellington to land passengers and mail on August 17. The cargo will afterwards be unloaded at Lyttelton Port Chalmers, and Timaru. PAKIPAKI FIRE OUTB RE A K .—Advice received by the Sydney Marine Underwriters’ Association states that the recent outbreak of lire on the Federal Line steamer Pakipaki at New York caused considerable damage to cargo in Nos. 1 and 2 holds. The vessel was loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. After the lire, there was six feet of water in Nos. 1 and 22 holds, which contained oils, a motor-car, and also general merchandise. The advice stated that the cargo in the two holds was being discharged. C. AND D. LONDON STEAMERS.— The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Melbourne is scheduled to leave London tomorrow with general merchandise for discharge at Suva Auckland, and Port Chalmers. Running under the auspices of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, the steamer Malakand is to leave London for Port Chalmer.s Lyttelton, and Nelson on August 21. The motor-ship Port Huon will be despatched from London for Auckland and Wellington on October 13. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Victor is' scheduled to clear New York for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin on August 15. CANADIAN VICTOR ARRlVES.—Yesterday afternoon the Canadian National Steamships Line steamer Canadian Victor arrived in the stream at Auckland from Montreal, and later berthed at the Prince’s Wharf to unload newsprint ard general cargo for New Zealand. She is to sail for Brisbane, Melbourne, Geelong and Adelaide at noon today to complete discharge. The _yessel sailed from Montreal on June 15 and cleared Balboa on June 30 Continuous Jivesterly winds and rough head seas during the last two weeks of the voyage prolonged the trip by about two days. Captain J. McFadyen is in command, and the following are the officers:— Chief, Mr. JT. Mosher: second, Mr. D. Clarke; third, Mr. C. Sargent; chief engineer. Mr. J. Wilcox: second. Mr. L. TRANS-PACIFIC CARGO SERVICE.— The V airuna left Ocean Falls on Sundav for San Francisco and Los Angeles. will clear Los Angeles on August 8 fnf Lyttelton, Dunedin, Nelson. New Plymouth and Napier, and is due at Lyttelton on September 4. The Waikawa left Suva on Julv 20 for Vancouver, wluere she is due on* August 10. She will load for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. The Waiherao left Dunedin on Saturday, arrived at Bluff on Sunday, and will leave there on Wednesday for Port Cha’mers and New Plymouth. She is due at New Plymouth on August 5 and will return to Vancouver via Westport The Waitemata left Sydney on July 25 for Port Kembla, where she will berth today. She will return to Svdnev and clear there on July 31 for Suva and Vancouver, via. Honolulu.
The Hatcraki left Los Angeles on July 1 for Auckland, where she is due on August 6. thence to We'lington, Melbourne, Adelaide and Svdnev. The Waiotapu left Los Angeles on Julv 20 for Auckland, via Papeete. She is due at Papeete on August 4. at Auckland on August 17, and will go thence to Melbourne and Sydney.
MAUN GAN U I FOR SYDNEY.—In continuation ot her voyage from San Francisco and way ports, the Union Company’s R.M.S. Maunganui leaves .Wellington at 3 o'clock this afternoon for Sydney, where she is due on Saturday. RE MU ERA HOME.—According to cable advice received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the liner Remuera, which loaded in New Zealand, and sailed from Wellington on June 22 for Southampton and London, arrived at Southampton on July 28. MARAMA AT WELLINGTON.—Advice has been received by the local office of the Union Company that the intercolonial passenger steamer Jiarama arrived at Wellington at 4.35 a.in. today from Sydney and leaves at 3 o’clock on Friday afternoon on her return trip. MAHENO FROM SYDNEY. The Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer iVlaheno arrived in the stream at Auckland at 6.20 o’clock this morning from Sydney, and later berthed at the Queen's Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. The vessel left the New South Wales port last Friday and experienced a good weather passage across the Tasman sea. The following passengers arrived by the vessel: — First Saloon.—Fro. PI PI RI KI DUE.—No radio message has been received by the local office of The New Zealand Shipping Company from the Federal steamer Pipiriki, which i* now di:° from New York. The vessel, which is running under the agency of the A. and A. Line, has cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. RUAHINE FOR AUCKLAND.—Loaving Wellington this afternoon for Auckland. the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruahine is due here on Thursday to complete her discharge of London cargo. Later the vessel commences loading at this port, and subsequently fills up at Gisborne. Napier. Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington. She is scheduled to clear Wellington finally on August 21 for Southampton and London via Panama. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE— The following vessels are expected to be within range of the undermentioned wireless stations tonight:— Auckland: Aorangi. Calulu, YLariston, Maui Pomare, Plume. Pipiriki. DEPARTURES TODAY HAUTURU (6 a.m.), 270 tons, JaeksonFowler, for Raglan and Kawhia. Ilokianga is to be dispatched for Hokianga at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Xgapuhi, which left last evening New Plymouth, had to anchor inside the Manukau Heads on account of the rougii state of the bar. She eventually the bar at 11 p.m. last night, and is due back in port at 7.30 a.m. tomorrow. Hauturu, which was scheduled to sail for Raglan, Kawhia and Waikato at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, did not leave until 6 o’clock this morning on account of the rough state of the bar, aro she negotiated the entrance successful!:* She should arrive back at 6 a.m. Thursday. Arapavva, arriving from Opunake ana Wanganui tomorrow morning, is to sail for the same ports on Friday.
