TOURVILLE’S VISIT
FRENCH. CRUISER ARRIVES TOMORROW BERTHING AT CENTRAL WHARF Advice has been received that the French cruiser Tourville, now approaching New Zealand from the New Hebrides, will arrive in the Waitemata at 9 a.m. tomorrow. The Auckland Harbour Board announces that the warship wiil berth at 9.30 a.m., accommodation having been reserved at the Central Wharf. Courtesy calls will be exchanged as follow: Captain J. M. C. Abrial, commanding the Tourville, will call < :i I'he is ter of Internal Affairs, the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle. The other calls on the senior naval and military • officers and the Mayor and chairman of the Harbour Board will then be made and returned. From Wednesday the warship will be open for inspection ’' "tervals during her stay of eight days. Tomorrow evening Abrial and his senior officers will be tlie guests of Mr. de la Perrelle at an informal dinner at the Grand Hotel, at which the Consul for France, M. Paul Serre, and the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, will also be ' will also be given for Captain Abrial by M. Serre and the Consul x_*o. gium, Mr. A. M. Ferguson. On Wednesday a party will leave for the Waitomo Caves, returning on Thursday, while another party will leave for Rotorua on Friday, returning on Sunday evening. A ball for the officers will be given by the French ’Tub at the Click Clack Cabaret next Monday, and the club is arranging dances, concerts and refreshments for the men in a building to be prepared for the purpose at Central Wharf. The men will be extended the freedom of the trams, the zoo* and the swimming baths.
