Osborn© (Melbourne). ■Mr. H. Frost, chairman of the Auckdnd Rugby Union, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington. He has been visiting Christchurch. Viscount and Viscountess Melville, who have been visiting Rotorua, oined the Limited at Frankton Junction last evening cn route for Wellington. The Rev. E. R. Alexander, Methodist minister for Hauraki Plains, has received notice of transfer to China, King Country. He will be succeeded by the Rev. A. R. Thomas, of Ohura. Mr. G. D. Lisliman, of the Invercargill branch of the Government Tourist Office, has been notified of his transfer to the office of the High Commissioner in London. He will leave New Zealand next month. Flying-Officer H. "Wentworth Huffy, of No. 5 Squadron, Army Co-operation. Royal Air Force, Quetta, India., who received his pilot’s training at the Wigram airdrome in Christchurch, returned to Wellington last week.
Mr. H. E. Field, lecturer in philosophy at Canterbury College, will leave shortly, under a research scholarship, for the United States, to study his subject. He will spend about a year in America, and then go to England.

Ardell, Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs, arrived by the Limited this morning on business connected with the visit of the French cruiser Tourville.
