SARRON AVENGES FIRST DEFEAT STIRRING SYDNEY FIGHT (United I\.4. —fig Telegraph — Copyright) SYDNEY, Sunday. A stirring return fight between Reekie and Sarron last evening saw Barron avenge his former defeat on points by knocking out the Xew Zealander in the 13th round. Sarron had the best of the bout all through, and only Leckie’s wonderful grit staved off the end for so long. He fell in the first round to a stiff short left, but was up at once. His eagerness in the second round gave Sarron an opening for a left hook, which floored Reekie 'or a count ot' eight. He needed a but attacked immediately, to be floored again, although he had the satisfaction of seeing the American sent down momentarily. Reckio was at his best in the second and third rounds, when le had a shade the better of the points. After that the American had matters practically all his own way, and the Xew Zealander took heavy punishment. He was down twice in the 11th round. A fusillade of left hooks and right swings in the 13th round finished Reekie, who was half through the ropes and helpless, but lie came back, to be dropped by a smashing right to the chin.

MATHIESON’S WIN BIG CYCLE ROAD RACE AUCKLAND CLUB’S EVENT V’nder ideal weather conditions, the Auckland Cycle Club held its first ananuul road race from Munge.re Bridge to Clevedon and back on Saturday, a distance of Ao miles. With a handsome silver cup at stake, keen interest was centred on this race. MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB The Manukau Amateur Cycling Club staged two races on Saturday, a M-miles annual junior championship and" a 17miles senior handicap, over three laps of the Mangere circuit. The junior event, which drew a field of nine, resulted:—K. Hall, 1; C. T. Yule, 2; C. Hansen, 3: G. M. Rethabv, 4. Hall returned the record junior championship time of ir>min 4fcsec. The fine championship sash was presented to Hall after the contest by Mr. G. Leuthaby. an old-time cyclist, and keen supporter of the Manukau Club. A good field of competed in the senior event, which resulted in Hall repeating his success recorded in the junior championship. The placed riders were:—E. Hall. 4m n 23se C , 1; H. Borland, 4min 25sec. 2: G. P. Clark. 4min 25see. 3: W. Borland, omin 4. The finish between H. R. Dwight and J. Wade for fastest time honours was most exciting.
