SHOCK IN EARLY MORNING Press Association WESTPORT, Sunday. Earthquakes at irregular periods are still being exep rienced at Westport. A very severe shock was felt at 2 a.m. today. It would have caused the people to run outside had they not become hardened to the shocks, large and small, which they have exeprienced in the past six weeks. RELIEF IN ’QUAKE AREA UNIFORM SYSTEM WANTED Press Association WESTPORT, Sunday. At a meeting of the Buller Relief Committee yesterday it was resolved, in connection with the application forms to be filled in by persons seeking relief, that the committee was of opinion that the details asked for, and to which objection had been taken, be not required in the case of applications where the sum applied for was not more than £SO. A letter was received from the Granity - N gaka wau Relief Committee asking the Buller committee to “convene a meeting of delegates from all other relief committees to discuss the proposed method of dispensing relief, with a viw to arriving at a uniform system of restoration throughout the area affected.” The meeting endorsed the suggestion and favoured holding the conference in Westport. SURVEY BY AIR CAPTAIN BUCKLEY’S FLIGHT Press Association WESTPORT, Sunday. Captain Buckley, accompanied by Corporal Smith, arrived at Westport in a Moth airplane from Christchurch at 11.10 a.m. today. The time taken was 2hrs 15min. It was an excellent trip. A survey is to be made of the coastal steamer routes by Captain Whiteford, of the Marine Department, Wellington. It will cover the routes from Greymouth to Farewell Spit. A survey of the backwaters of the Karamea River also is to be made by Mr. V. Johnston, Public Works engineer. Photographs will also be taken of the fault line running from the Buller River north to Murchison.
