“SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL” Sheridan's brilliant comedy, “The School for Scandal," which has been revived by Allan Wilkie, attracted a. large audience to His Majesty‘s Theatre last evening. The play itsel: is one of the finest social satires of the English stage, and while the play can. of course, stand by itself. the general effect is, nevertheless. enhanced” by tasteful production. Mr. VVilkie has taken elaborate pains with his production, and the revival stands to his credit as one of the finest efforts in a distinguished stage career. The frocking is excellent, and the stage settings are perfectly arranged. ‘ Mr. VVilkie gave a. clever study 01" Sir Peter Teazle, and Miss HunterWatts was a convincing Lady Teazle,‘ showing full relish of her social con-‘ quests. Miss Lorna. Forbes was a. snlendid Mrs. Candour. The part of Charles Surface was played memorably by Alexander Marsh.
