N.Z. CROQUET CHALLENGE

The Macßobertson International Croquet Challenge Shield, at present i held by Victoria, which State won it | from England last year, is coveted by , Xew Zealand croquet players, and a challenge has been entered to play for it during the coming summer. The challenge has been accepted, and Xew Zealand before long will set about selecting its representative players. Six are required, and as Xew Zealand has quite a number of brilliant players, there is every indication that the trophy will rest here before the summer is far advanced. The contest will take place in Melbourne during January of next year. Players to be selected must have a handicap of one and a-half bisques or under, and must be members of an associated club. Elimination contests will be held on the Palmerston Xorth lawns during December. one for ladies and one for either sex. Two players from the ladies’ contest, and four from the open, will be chosen to represent Xew Zealand.
