TRAVEL ROMANCE

ALPINE CLUB ADDRESS Members of the Alpine Sports Club learnt last evening how full advantage could be taken of travel. Mr. H. F. von Haast, well known in New Zealand for his work in fostering the pastime of tramping, gave an instructive lecture on the “Romance of Travel.” The speaker’s address revealed the full knowledge he possesses of travel conditions. Mr. von Haast knew of opportunities, apart from those provided for “beaten track” tourists, affording study and interest. The zest in travel was largely obtained through seeing something different. Professor R. . Algie, president of the club, introduced Mr. von Haast. and explained the lecturer’s part as a foundation member of the Tararua Tramping Club. Mr. von Haast had had considerable experience as a traveller in many parts of the world.
