COUNCIL WANTS ACTION NORTHCOTE BUSES The Xo. 2 (North Shore) Omnibus Licensing Authority, meeting at Devorport last evening, had before it a letter from the Northcote Borough Council urging that the authority take action regarding the manner in which buses load passengers at the Northcote Wharf. Owing to the narrowness of the roadway at the wharf approach the buses have to swing around and run backward toward the wharf. The council contends that this is a dangerous procedure and endeavoured to convince the Licensing Authority that it was a matter that the authority and not the Borough Council should deni with. The authority decided to make inquiries before considering the matter. An application by Glassey Bros., who conduct the Devonport Wharf-Narrow Neck service, to vary the starting time of certain early morning trips was granted. The buses will commence their journeys three minutes earlier in order to take in a new loop trip down Dueler’s Point.
