STRAND
“4 DEVILS” From the days of P. T. Barnum the circus has been an institution peculiarly and particularly American, but enjoyed throughout the world. And now the magic of the motion picture has changed all of this and now everyone can enjoy for the first time a circus through the medium of F. W. Murnau’s screen visualisation of “4 Devils,” a Fox Film super production which embodies a complete circus performance. It is a drama of great power and beauty superimposed on a background of the sawdust arena. “4 Devils” is the big special attraction now at the Strand Theatre, and has a notable cast of players, including Janet Gaynor, Charles Morton, Mary Duncan, Farrell Macdonald, Nancy Drexel and Barry Norton. The original story was written by Herman Bang, famous Danish novelist. This picture is accompanied by a selected musical score played by the Roxy Theatre, New York, Orchestra of 110 soloists. The all-talking programme includes a Fox Movietone News, a speech by King Alfonso of Spain, and an hilari°us farce, “The Bath Between,” by Clark and McCullough.
