MEETING OF EXECUTIVE
Reporting on the financial position of the League at a meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League held last evening, the treasurer, Mr. F. Ellis, said that the gate receipts were in advance of those of last season, and there was every hope of a record year so far as club matches were concerned. Mr. Ellis said it was pleasing to note the bank overdraft, amounting to £9OO, had been met. The chairman said the statemept was made known as the result of a question asked last Week and he was certain the League’s position was sound. The fact that a good sum was in credit after meeting all obligations was a pleasing feature. It was decided to grant £ 5 toward entertaining the South Auckland junior representative team. The Canterbury League wrote stating that its match against Auckland was not for the Northern Union Challenge Cup, but asking for an option of making it such a fixture, provided an allowance of GO per cent of the gross gate was made. It was decided to play the match on August 24, Canterbury’s request for gate consideration to be granted. The Grounds Committee reported that a hot-water system was being installed at Carlaw Park, and would be available on Saturday next. If was decided to play City and Ponsonby as a curtain-raiser to the MaristDevonport match on Saturday week.
