Davies, who has been teaching at Tauhei School, was entertained by the pupils and residents to a social evening, and was presented with a seagrass chair as a token of esteem. Miss Joy Brown made the presentation and Misses H. J. Valentine and T. B. Harris, on behalf of the parents and school committee, also made some eulogistic remarks. Mr. X. Oram, of Te Awamutu. the bridegroom-elect, returned thanks on behalf of Miss Davies. Dancing and games made up a. delightful evening. The music was supplied by Misses O. Berg. Phoebe Harris, Mesdames R. H. Haycock and J. i Findlay and Misses H. Berg and Hib- * ditch.

For Anglican Church Funds Fancy Dress Ball at Glen Massey The Glen Massey Hall on Friday night Ic-okcd particularly gay with streamers and pretty shades for the plain and fancy dress ball in aid of the Anglican Church funds. Bright music was provided by Mr. J. Cummings’s orchestra, and extras were played by Miss L. Tanfield and Mr. G. Duck. Prizes for the best fancy dresses were won by Miss J. McLean, as Charley’s Aunt, and Mr. E. Rutter, as a Quaker; for the most original ones, Mrs. U. Tanfield and Mrs. W. McIntyre as Mr. and Mrs. Hayseed, carried off the honours. ’QUAKE RELIEF KOHI RESIDENTS' BRIGHT EFFORT Xearly three hundred Kohimarama residents and city visitors attended the social and dance held in aid of the Earthquake Relief Fund in the Kohimarama Hall last Monday. A sun: of about £SO tv as raised. Morrow’s Orchestra rendered a bright and varied programme of dance numbers, which was greatly appreciated by the dancers. The assisting • artists were Misses Edna Thomas, E. Bergen, Messrs. AY. H. Hallahan, AY. Taylor. Allen. AAA Roberts, George AVarren and Master Trevor Andrew. The women of the committee responsible for the success of the evening were Miss Lorna Andrew, secretary, who wore black ring velvet with diamente .trimming; Mrs. B.
