WATER FOR PAPATOETOE
PROGRESS OF SCHEME Good progress is being made with the water supply scheme for the Papatoetoe town district. The water engineer reported at last evening’s meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board that although not completed, the storage-tank was ready to take water. He urged the necessity of filling the reservoir to allow the reticulation mains to be tested. The permanent pump was duo to arrive on August 3, and is to be in operation within a week. The rising main had been connected, and the falling main was also connected at th© bottom of the hill, and in three or four days the reticulation mains would be completed to Puhinui stream. The engineer estimated that additional expenditure in connection with the work till the end of August would amount to £IO,OOO or £II,OOO. Amounts paid up to date totalled £6,500.
