PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD
The clerk reported to the Papatoetoe Town Board last evening that outstanding sanitation dues amounted to £56 15s, and that final notices had been given to the defaulting ratepayers that unless immediate payment was made the accounts would be handed to the solicitors for collection. On the recommendation of Mr Nicholson, chairman of the finance com- J jnittee, it was agreed to hand out- | standing dues to the solicitor for col- t lection. The engineer submitted plans of the • permanent levels of the junction of j station Road, Gray Avenue and Port- j age Road, and advised that to con- , form to the plans regrading of the bitumen work would be necessary. | On the recommendation of the works committee, it was decided to instruct ! Mr. O. R. Self, that owing to the j heavy traffic using Portage Road from j liia scoria-pits, the board considers it , necessary for him to supply scoria for J maintenance work on the road. Fail- I ing liis agreement with this proposal, the board would consider restricting cartage on this road during the winter months. The traffic-inspector urged the necesity of the board regulating the speed and weight of the buses within the town district. These steps, he considered, were necessary owing to the wear of the roads caused by the heavy buses. The clerk reported that the general fund account was in debit £2,274. The chairman of the finance committee stated that an additional £l7O of overdue rates had been collected by V&c solicitors.
