£6,000 IN IMPROVEMENTS

The 50th annual report of the Feilding Jockey Club states that practically all sources* of revenue with the exception of acceptance fees show an increase over last year, and after allowing for depreciation to the extent of £1,124 4s 3d. the sum of .£702 9s 7d has been added to the capital account. During the year permanent improvements to the value of £5,751 14s lOd. have been carried out. These consist of: —New stewards’ stand, £3.003 11s; stalls, sand roll, and washes, £853 10s: latrines, £441 15s 9d: septic tank and sewerage, £321 18s; new fencing, £560 19s lOd. Maintenance for the year has been heavy, £516 in advance of last year. but much of the work charged for will nut bo recurring. The chief items are: Three furlongs of new inner rail round the south end of the course, partially filling in the lake at the kiosk, levelling and sowing the saddling paddock, draining and improving the exercise ground at training quarters, ploughing and levelling for extension of the motor paddock, and four new starting posts. The coming year being the club's jubilee year, the committee intends making it a memorable one, and is being greatly assisted in this direction by the generosity of two members of the club. Messrs. R. L. Levin and C. F. Johnston, who are presenting 100 guinea gold cups for competition. Mr. Johnston’s cup has been allotted to the Feilding Cup Handicap, at the jubilee meeting in November next, and this gentleman is also giving a gold replica of the cup for presentation to the trainer of the winning horse. Mr. Levin’s cup has been allotted to the Manchester Handicap at the Easter meeting. 1930. Mr. J. Jackman again presented a silver cup for the Oroua Hack Cup Handicap. The committee has decided to give a gold cup for this event next Easter meeting.
