“WOLF SONG” ‘ A tale of an old civilisation in a. new world with Lupe Velez taking the role of. a. daughter of the Dons, is “Wolf Song,” the big attraction now at the New Regent Theatre.
Interpreted by a large cast of popular players, “Wolf Song” is a Paramount singing and sound version of the novel by Harvey Fergusson. Gary Cooper, the clever leading man of “The Legion of the Condemned” and . “Beau Sabreur,” is seen in the role of Sam
Lash, a young pioneer, while Lupe Velez plays the principal feminine part, that of Lola Salazar, a beautiful Spanish girl living with her father .in the Mexican town of Taos. Tired of the monotony of backwoods life, Sam decides to visit the towns, and on his way passes through Taos, where he meets Lola. Fearing her father’s disapproval, the lovers elope and begin a series of adventures which culminate in a thrilling climax. The supporting programme of shorter talking pictures include “The Pusher in the Face,” a' Paramount comedy, a dramatic sketch, “The Carnival Man,” starring "Walter Huston, and “Daisy Bell,” an animated sound cartoon, and, finally, a Pathe Sound News and Audio Review. A number of selections are played on the big Wurlitzer organ by Arthur G. Frost.
