Attractive Cards for Avondale’s New Year
I l SPRING AND AUTUMN 7 ) PRIZE MONEI TOTALS l £10,400 l —_ 3 Thu: Avondule Jot-key Club is Curly lin the field with its protramme for sthc 1929—30 season, which oflit‘ially lcommences on August 1. It really had ito be, for its opening meeting is less [than :1 couple of months ahead. i It was inevitable that the club Would ihave to revise its programme so far as stake money is concerned. For the coming season the stake l money for the two meetings ‘ amounts to £10,400, which is £1,670 less than for the racing year now terminating. This reduction is probably not so much as it was feared would he necessary, when one considers the atrocious weather experienced last spring, and the consequent heavy slump in revenue, not to mention the heavy liability incurred in securing the present splendid course. Indeed the Club is to be congratulated upon the bill of fare it has drawn up for its next spring and autumn meetings, and in keeping the stakes up 1.0 £10,400 it is obvious the committee has faced the position with courage and every confidence in the future. The principal factor necessary to en—sure the success financially of the forthcoming season of the A.J.C. is for the committee to win over to its side Jupiter Pluvius—an excellent friend, but a most depressing enemy.
