MR. CHARLES HAGERTY An old resident of the Taurunga distriet, Mr. Charles Hagerty. died there on Sunday at the age of. 84. Born in Ireland, Dir. Hagerty arrived in New Zeal-and 45 years ago. He was keenly interested in yachting and rowing. He is survived by his wife. MISS M. A. ROUTLY The death occurred at Pukekohe on Sunday of Bliss Mary Ann Routly, sister of the Mayor of Pukekolie,l\ir. John Routly, at the age of 59 years. The late ‘Miss Routly was the daughter of two of Pukekohe's early settlers, Airs. and the late Mr. VVilliam Routly. She was an ardent member of the )iethodist Church and was prominently associated with many of its activities. MR. GEORGE COWAN A well-known member of the rail—way service. Mr. George Cow-an, died at the Huntly Hospital on Sunday morning. 111’. Cowan was born in King’s County. Ireland, in 1571. and was a resident of New Zealand for 4-5 years. Formerly employed in the maintenance branch of the railways. I\lr. Cowan was transferred to the trafiic staff. A veteran of the South African “2211‘. Mr. Cowan was a quiet, unassuming man and highly respected. He is survived by his widow. The funeral took place at Kimihia Cemetery, his old workmates in the Railway Department acting as pallbearers. Father Curley read the burial service. MRS. HENRIETTA BECHAINAN One of the uIdCSL natiVe-hul'n Angklunders. Mrs. Henrietta. Buchanan, diL'd at New Lynn on Friday at the age of 78. Born at Devonport. Mrs. Buchanan witnessed the growth of Auckland from its small beginning until the present time. In 1881 she went to live at Hikurangi, latter returning to Auckland and living at Ponsonby and Mount Eden. Air. Buchanan died a few months ago at the age of SB. Mrs. Buchanan is survived by two sons, Mr. G. Buchanan. of Hokiangu, and Air. J. Buchanan, of the “’aikato. and nine daughters. There are 83
