A NEW CLUB

OFFICERS APPOINTED The constitution of the Auckland Creditinen's Association was formally confirmed at A meeting at the conclusion of ii. luncheon this afternoon. The club is now definitely launched in the interests of the credit men of the city. in the unavoidable absence of the president-elect, Mr. \‘V. J. lloldsworth, Mr. A. J. Hutchinson, vice-president-elect, presided over a. large attendance of ineinhcrs and prospective members. “A meeting of credit men usually resolves itself into u. ‘gluoni’ party,” said. "The object ot‘ this newly-constituted club is that those who control the credit of the city may loregather in the spirit of friendship and co-opertttiun, not to discuss any particular individual or account, but to discuss business gener—ally, and to listen to addresses on the subject given by experts in their VarioLQs lines.” Business and credit were indissolubly locked together. said the speaker. Credit had been built up by :1 process of evolution, as anyone could see by a careful study of business for hundreds of years past. “The British Empire .lius always honoured its credit,” suit] I\lr. Hutchinson. “Probably it is the only country in the world that has not at some time or other repudiated its debts. Hutchinson urged members to show keen interest in the affairs of the club and to state their likes in the direction of addresses. Arrangements had already been made for several interesting lectures to be delivered at the fortnightly luncheons and in the near future the Hon. E. ‘V. Alison would address the club on “Auck—land Business in the ’sixties." On the motion of-lVlr. A. J. Hutchinson, seconded by Air. L. A. Eddy, the principle of the formation of the club was affirmed. On the motion of Mr. C. J. Tunlis, seconded by Mr. J. M. Eliffe, the constitution submitted to nae-miners was adopted. The following officers were uppointedz—President, I\lr. XV. J.
