Occasionally a thousand words are squandered in the newspapers on reporting some loquacious member’s indulgence in party banter. There have been embellishments in the use of the word “Laughter” and the reporting of inane interruption, not far above schoolboys’ vernacular retorts such as “You’re another!” and “So’s your old man!”—Newspaper comment on the decay of politics at Wellington.
