“DO-WHAT-YOU-LIKE”

“Oh. who ever are you ‘3” asked Gwen 1 and Peter in one breath, as they saw. the wee fairy who was perched on a. branch beside two doves. “Oh. I’m Fairy Do-what—you-like! I thought you called me!” } “Oh, no!” said Gwen. “We didn't Lcall you.” ‘ ‘ “But. aren’t you the little girl and boy who ate always saying you Wished you could do What: you liked?" “Well, I believe ~we do say that rather a lot,” confessed Peter. “Then that’s Why I've been sent,” said the fairy. “Now, listen! For one Whole Week you are to be allowed to do just what you like. The fairies have told your mumm‘Sl of my plan, and she agrees to it.” Then the Wee figure vanished. It all turned out as the fairy had said. Every time Gwen or Peter asked. “May I do just what I like?” mummy said. “Oh, yes, dear, of course you may!"

So Gwen and Peter didn‘t eat their porridge, didn’t go to school. didn't tidy up their playroom, and didn’t go to bed at the proper time. They just did what they liked!

And then what happened? Why, after a. few days they began to feel cross and ill, and tired of having everything in such a muddle.

“o"h, mummy," Given said at last, “we‘re tired of doing just what we like!” qu mymmy “:as so glam}. > _

That night they had a. second visit from Fairy Do—what-you—like. “Have you had a happy time?” she asked. “And do you want another week?" ‘

“Oh, no. no!" cried Gwen and Peter. And the fairy Enliled to herself as she flew away.
