THREE NIGHT SCENES
A little, silver, crescent moon Shone through the willows green, Over the waters of a. brook— The prettiest sight I’d seen.
A. harvest moon like a ball of fire Sailed o’er the mystic deep; I gazed at it in speechless awe. And wondered how folk could sleep.
One deep dark night when no moon shone, A thousand stars I saw Peeping out from their canopy To smile on the boundless moor. -—-I\lyrtle Burgess, aged 13.
CALL BALL
Have you ever played can ball? All the players stand in a. line, except one who is the caller. He stands well away from the other players, and holds the ball. Suddenly he throws it. and calls out one of the player§ names at the same time. This player must run forward to catch the ball at once. If he manages to catch it, he can go back to his place, and that counts as a. point in his favour. If he misses it, then he ruust take the caller’s place. and throw the ball. The one who scores the most points wins. because he, of course. has proved himself to be the best "catcher?
