GRAND AND LYRIC
“STOLEN PLEASURES”
The film now at the Grand and Lyric Theatres. "Stolen Pleasures," which opened last night, might be described as an open letter to the husbands and wives of Auckland—those who still make a. house pet of the green-eyed monster, Jealousy, or who have an over supply of suspicion and a shortage of trust for each other in their: systems. Not. only is it an interesting picture from every entertainment angle, but. it is also one of the best. of sugar—coated preachments against an age-old evil.
In short synopsis it is the story of a. wife who mistrusted her husband for no reason at. all and the tale also of a husband who put two and two together about his wife and thought it made four, when it. really totted up six. As a. result of this parallel of suspicions and jealousy among a pair of wives and husbands, all four of them get mixed up in grand fashion in a web of their own making. The whole thing nearly culminates in the complete
destruction of. the “God Bless Our H a. p p y Home” staves in both domiciles and a little more work for the divorce courts. Blost of the work falls on Dorothy Revier, who is a. r really clever actress.
Helen Chadwick is also started The second big picture on both programmes is “Once and For All,” starring Patsy Ruth Miller.
