Every fifth year since 1896 Lord Knutsford, who has just passed his 74th birthday, has made an appeal for funds for the London Hospital, and in 30 years he has succeeded in raising nearly £500,000.

“I ha§re dftén wished I had accepted, but I was afraid of meeting someone I knew,” Lord Knutsford says.
