TO THE RESCUE

INTERFERENCE COSTS £1 Trying to save his friend from the clutches of the law resulted in Alexander Mulholland being fined £1 at the Police Court yesterday for obstructing a constable in the execution of his duty. Mulholland, aged 35. said that he did not mean to obstruct the constable. He was only trying to get his mate away. “It is not a bad case,” commented Sub-Inspector McCarthy. “There was no assault or anything like that. The constable had arrested a man for drunkenness and had to take him about 20 yards to the cab. Mulholland came and tried to get the man away.” Default of the fine was fixed at three days’ imprisonment.
