CHIMNEYS IN SCHOOLS

REDUCING ’QUAKE DANGER Press Association WANGANUI, Thursday. The architect to the Wanganui Education Board, discussing the earthquake effect on school buildings, said that the experience of the district called for more consideration of the erection of chimneys in some material other than brick. He suggests that concrete should be the material used, with terracotta and brick linings. The erection of chimneys could be reduced to a minimum by the installation of hot water heating plants in at least all new buildings.
