SMITH URGED TO HALT
ATLANTIC FLIGHT TOO HAZARDOUS EXPLOIT NOT NECESSARY Reed. 3 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. Mr. F. Stewart, chairman of the Australian National Airways, Limited, has communicated with SquadronLeader C. E. Kingsford Smith and Flight-Lieutenant C. T. P. Ulm, advising them not to attempt a flight over the Atlantic, which would be hazardous, and adding that the company is convinced such an exploit is not needed as a test of the crew’s courage and airmanship, which is already established.
