COAL TRADE DEADLOCK

ABORTIVE CONFERENCE HELD IN SYDNEY SYDNEY. Thursday. Less than half an hour's discussion today sounded the death knell of the conference betwen representatives of the unions in the mining industry and the coalmine proprietors, which had been arranged by the Coal Commission. The men said they had nothing to offer in the way of a compromise, and the owners that they had no solution lo suggest which would satisfy all parties. A joint statement to that effect was issued by the representatives of the parties at the close of the conference. The Coal Commission thereupon resumed its investigations. *
