A message from Perim states that the British steamer Tongariro, bound from Bowen to London, is ashore five miles south-east of Rasalara. She is afloat aft, and is not making water. She has requested assistance. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Tongariro (8,729 tons, Captain Kettlewell) left Brisbane on May 12 for London and Liverpool, via Adelaide (June 27) and other Australian ports.
