TIVOLI AND EVERYBODY’S
“THE HOUSE OF HORROR” Louise Fazenda, for years the pre- | miere comedienne of the screen, has suddenly found a new niche for her- j self. Her great success in the gripping j mystery special, "The Terror” has ; given her the central role in ‘‘The ; House of Horror,” which is to head j the bill at the Tivoli and Everybody's Theatres this evening. Chester Conklin shares comedy
honours with Miss Fazenda in this picture. Thelma Todd and James Ford are paired in a novel love story, and grotesque mystery character roles are played by other eminent artists. Benjamin Christensen, who directed “The House of Horror,” also adapted it to the
screen from the narrative of a real-life affair, sold to the film company by an author who conceals his identity behind a pseudonym. This story of mystery, so mysterious even in its origin, concerns a huge blue diamond, a strange establishment called “The Curiosity Shop,” to conceal its real nature, and grotesque human beings. Jt is brimful of comedy, toofi and */ erein Miss Fazenda scores. The art of being frightened she had developed to its very height, and through it creates her new specialty, comedy in mystery thrillers. Excellent supporting pictures will complete the new programme.
