GRAND AND LYRIC
NEW PICTURES TOMORROW This evening sees the final screening of the current programmes at both the Grand and Lyric Theatres. The pictures are “Bare Knees,” an enjoyable comedy-drama of modern youth, starring Virginia Lee Corbin. At the Grand Theatre the second feature is “The Forger,” Edgar Wallace’s latest thriller. At the Lyric Theatre the second film will be “The Parmer's Wife,” a charming English comedy starring Lillian Uall-Davis and Jameson Thomas. Entirely new programmes will be screened at both theatres tomorrow. The chief picture will be '“Stolen Pleasures,” an unusually powerful story of marriage and society, starring Helen Chadwick and Dorothy Revier. William Powell is now working as the detective, Philo Vance, in “The Greene Murder Case,” an all-talking picture now in production at the Paramount Hollywood studios. Other important roles are played by Ruth Chatterton, Paul Lukas, Mary Brian and Eugene Pallette. “Redskin,” the Paramount colour picture starring Richard Dix, is now in New Zealand, and will shortly be heard throughout the Dominion. It is a synchronised sound picture, and the theme song, “Redskin,” is sung several times during the production.
