PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT PIGEON MOUNTAIN There was not a large field at the meet of the Pakuranga Hunt at Pigeon Mountain on Tuesday owing to the unfavourable weather. The pack was thrown off on Mr. Dunn’s property, and after a long 'draw nothing eventuated, and a move (was made to new ground. During the draw the field encountered a hedge ijand ditch obstacle, which severely taxed the jumping capabilities of the horses. More than one of the followers came to grief. The pack then worked across Pigeon Mountain, and a hare was soon located which circled the mountain twice. Then the pack picked up a fresh scent, the quarry leading the field for a good spin across Mr. J. Langford’s property, and turned on to the road, rarming into barred country. The hounds soon h'ad “puss” on the run | again, and followed across the mountain. It crossed Buckland Beach Rqpd, into Mr. Hunt’s farm and out on to 1-Jowick Road. When the four crcsss-roads were reached the quarry turned and crossed over the farms of Messrs Shaw and G. Thompson and crossed the back road on to Mr. Robertas farm. It led the way through Mr. Gillman’s, on to the mountain, where the line was crossed by a fresh hare, and after another scurry round the mountain the pack was called off and the homeward journey begun.
