FIFTY YEARS A MASON

STILL AN ACTIVE MEMBER MR. H. E. TRISTRAM’S RECORD (Special to THE SUN) HAMILTON, Wednesday. On the occasion of his 75th birthday Mr. Henry Exford Tristram, of Hamilton East, who has been a Freeman for over 50 years, was presented with a birthday cake by a number of Freemasons. The cake was decorated with a representation of a Mason’s apron. Mr. Tristram, who is a son of the late Mr. James Quick Tristram, a bandsman of the 40tli - Regiment, was born in Melbourne. His father was a member of the Alexandra Lodge E.C., when it was established at Pirongia, and Mr. Tristram was also a member. When the military forces left Pirongia the charter of the lodge became dormant. but later it was revived in Hamilton. Mr. Tristram is still a member.

When Lodge Beta-Waikato, N.Z.C., was formed over 30 years ago, Mr. Tristram joined and became master. Later he joined Lodge Tawhiri, N.Z.C., at Frankton, and when Lodge Hamilton was formed two years ago Mr. Tristram became a foundation member. Mr. Tristram has held all the important offices in the craft and still attends and takes a great interest in the lodges of which he is a. member. In his early days Mr. Tristram was a keen bandsman. He lias been a member of the Hamilton Borough Council and Waikato Hospital Board. He is a keen trotting enthusiast and is owner of the trotter Wild Nut.
