DAM-BURST THREATENED
GOULBURN VALLEY NOW MENACED DESPERATE REPAIR WORK Reed. 9 a.m. MELBOURNE, Today. Desperate efforts are being made to fill in a great subsidence in the bank of the Sugar-loaf Weir. Should the floods cause the weir to break, an immense body of water will plunge down the Goulburn Valley, endangering people’s lives. Three hundred men are at present employed repairing the damage, the cost of which will be at least £250,000.
