DARGAVILLE FIRE BOARD

EFFICIENCY OF BRIGADE The quarterly meeting of the Dargaville Fire Board veaterdav was presided over by Mr. G. Nevill. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £254 8s Sd. In the quarterly report of the superintendent, Mr. Hayward, it was stated that three fire calls had been answered during the quarter. In no cases were the fires of a serious nature. In the annual report and balance sheet it was stated that the work of the brigade for the past year had been entirely satisfactory. The membership had been kept up to full strength and the efficiency of the brigade was at a very high standard. During the year the* members of the brigade took part in two competitions for the Citizens’ Challenge Shield at hangarei. and at the United Fire Brigades’ Demonstration at Hokitika. The Citizens’ Challenge Shield was held by the Dargaville brigade after a very keen contest. At Hokitika the brigade finished in 15th place in the championship points out of 63 brigades taking part.
