NEW REGENT

“CLOSE HARMONY” “Close Harmony,” now at the New Regent Theatre, is not merely an alltalking picture with a feAV songs thrown in. “Close Harmony” is alltalking, all singing, and all dancing, These three are as dexterously interAvoven as in any musical comedy. Ir fact it is the first real musical show tc reach the screen in the talkies. It is probably the liveliest and most sparkling musical show to reach Auckland Nancy Carroll, the star, sings, “J Wanna Go Places and Do Things," ant Charles Rogers sings “All a Twitter,’ and plays many of the instruments ir a jazz band. This team will be seer again in “Abie’s Irish Rose.” Featured in a prominent role is Harrs Green, who was some short time ag(

producing plays for Williamson’s ir Australia. Then there appears a song and dance team in the persons of Jacl Oakie and Skeets Gallagher, both o: whom have been seen in Paramount productions. They sing the humorous song, “She’s So I Dunno.” There are also a number of excellent short talkie features. On Saturday the New Regent ■wil! present “Wolf Song,” a new Paramount production, starring Lupe Velez ant Gary Cooper. Although there is no dialogue ir “Wolf Song,” the picture is richly furnished with songs, particularly “Y< T© Amo.” which is sung splendidly Miss Velez, and “The Wolf Song,” < rollicking chorus rendered by th< mountaineers.
