BLIND BOYS’ BAND
PROGRAMME AT “SING” The boys’ band from the Blind Institute provided a good crowd at the community singing at the Town Hall today with an excellent programme of music, and demonstrated conclusively to what extent the blind can be taught. The band items spoke eloquently of the time and trouble to which the conductor. Air. E. W. Bowes, has gone in making such a fine combination. Listeners-in. too. must have enjoyed the programme. In addition to band numbers, the band sang part songs. The rest of the “sing”-went well, the song leader, Air. Vernon Drew, getting good results by energetic conducting. A number of letters from distant parts was read, speaking of the pleasure which the singing in past weeks had given to listeners, and enclosing donations. In the absence of Air. A. J. Hutchinson. Air. J. E. Broadfoot, acting director of the institute, was in the chair, and announced that a girls’ orchestra was being started next week. Airs. M. E. Osborne was the accompanist.
