i TRANSPORT BOARD PAYS OUT £70,919 MORE TENDERS ACCEFTED ! A month's accounts totalling | £70,919 -were passed for payment by the Transport Board ♦this morning. Ot this sum £37.660 represents interest accrued, wages accounted for £IS,7S6 and salaries for £1,671. PurI chase of electricity from the Auck- j I land Electric-Power Board involved j £6,533. The balance of £6.269 represents sundry accounts, j Of seven tenders for overcoats for ■ J traffic employees and the inspectorial j staff, that of R. Greer and Son, Ltd., jat £2 11s 9d and £2 16s 9d each rei spectively, was accepted. NEW ROAD-ROLLERS The tender of A. D. Riley and Co., j Ltd., for two crude-oil 12-ton motorrollers costing £2,650 for the two was l accepted. Five local agents tendered, I all representing English firms. This | tender was not the lowest, but be- j cause lower-priced machines did not j conform to specifications, they were j rejected. The tender of N. and G. Robinson for inspectorial staff uniforms at £3 18s each was accepted. There were two lower prices. The Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company, Ltd., of Christchurch, was the successful tenderer for 2,000 yards of vicuna cloth, the price be- i ing £75 8 6s Sd. Numerous tenders for wheels, axles, ! springs, electric motor control equip- j ment, air brakes and Sander gear were opened and referred to the management for schedule and report.
