OLD SOLDIERS MEET AGAIN
RE-UNION AT OTOROHANGA Probably the biggest reunion of soldiers which has ever taken place in the King Country was held in the Town Hall. Otorohanga, last evening. Major H. PI. S. Westmacott presided, with Captain G. PI. Boles in the vicechair. General R. Young, C. 8., C.M.G-, D. 5.0.. commander of the New Zealand Forces, was the guest of honour. Captain E. If. Sharp, M.C., represented the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association. Representatives of the Te Kuiti and Te Awamutu Returned Soldiers’ Associations were also present. A lengthy toast list and an enjoyable programme of orchestral music, violin solos and songs occupied the evening. Replying to the toast of the visitor. General Young told some amusing stories. Captain E. H. Sharp stressed the importance of the work of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, especially with regard to helping those not in a position to help themselves, and ■urged all soldiers present to support the association. The executive. Major Westmacott, chairman, and Mr. W. H. Miller, honorary secretary, are to be congratulated on the arrangements which resulted in such a successful evening.
