Old Man’s Body Found After Fire

HOUSE BURNED DOWN FELL ASLEEP SMOKING Press Association DANNEVIRKE, Today. A fire, attended by fatal results, occurred in a five-roomed wooden structure in Gordon Street, Dannevirke, last night, resulting in the death of Richard Lane, a wellknown resident, 80 years of age, who lived there alone. The fire was located in the kitchen, the old man’s body being subsequently found there, badly burned. It is thought that Lane, who was physically feeble, fell asleep while smoking, ashes from his pipe causing the fire.
