OTAHUHU WORKSHOPS CLAIM After three and a'-half days’ hearing in the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Kennedy reserved his decision today in the action over the plumbing work at the new Otahuhu Railway Workshops, D. and J. Miller, Ltd., sub-con-tractors for the plumbing work, sued the head contractors, Hansford and Mills Construction Company, Ltd., for £° 374, representing the balance allegedly due on this section of the work. Defendants counter-claimed £739 for allowances. .. , The principal witness for the defence was George Smith, manager of Hansford and Mills. Detailing negotiations over the plumbing sub-contract between he and Bowles, managingdirector of Millers. Ltd., he denied that he had been informed that Millers had reduced their contract price from £13,400 to £12,400 by eliminating flashings from the side-lights. Regarding the change in design of the side-lights, which required less flashing, he declared that his firm had, under protest, made an allowance of £S37 to the English firm from whom the lead flashings had been procured. The Home firm was responsible for the change in design of the window's.
